Mars is in a square aspect to Pluto in Mark's natal chart brings courage and a strong work ethic. He may occasionally struggle with repressed anger or feelings of discontentment.
A curious thing about this aspect in Mark's natal chart is that it has always been reactivated when important events connected to Level 42 take place every seven years. For example:
The band formed in late 1979/1980 - Mark's Solar Arc Jupiter was conjunct his natal Mars. The transiting North Node was square his natal Mars.
Two members of the band left in 1987 - Mark's Solar Arc Mercury and Neptune were square his natal Pluto while transiting Mars was conjunct his natal Mars and square his Pluto.
Level 42 broke up in 1994 - Mark's Solar Arc Sun was opposite his natal Mars and square his natal Pluto. In January of that year the transiting Nodes were in a square aspect to both his natal Mars and Pluto. By February, transiting Saturn was squaring Mars and opposite Pluto.
Level 42 reformed in 2001.- Mark's Solar Arc Venus was opposite his natal Mars and square his natal Pluto. Transiting Jupiter was conjunct natal Mars and square natal Pluto.
All of these events affected Mark personally by the Solar Arc and transiting planets making aspects to his natal Mars Pluto square, therefore acting as a trigger to what is a very profound and powerful influence.
Mark's natal Saturn is in Sagittarius bringing the ability to turn abstract visions into practical reality. Over time, this will evolve into dedicated work as a teacher, mentor, or guide. I don't know if he does this now but I do know that a lot of people learn from his bass playing techniques via YouTube.
How does Mark's unique talent show up in his birth chart? Well, there are a few indicators of his special musical abilities. Saturn is the planet of rhythm and timing and makes positive aspects to his Sun (creativity and performance) and his Venus (musical expression). However, Saturn is also in a very positive trine aspect to Uranus and this creates a subtle blend of the traditional combined with innovation and originality. So, Mark took something that already existed (bass playing) and turned it into something unique. This has gained him much respect within the music industry.
A Double Sextile configuration in Mark's natal chart which comprises Venus, Saturn and Uranus plays a huge role in his musical talent, as does Mars in Gemini. There will be more information in his birth chart but unfortunately, I don't have access to his time of birth. Nevertheless, a truly fascinating chart for a truly fascinating man.
